Svolværis the administrative centre of Vågan Municipality (9,200 inhabitants) in Nordland County, Norway. It is located on the island of Austvågøya in the Lofoten archipelago.

For a breathtaking view, take Fjellheisen Cable Car and climb 420 metres above sea level to the summit of Mt. Storsteinen, for dramatic views of Tromso city and Troms Island.

Honningsvåg, the northernmost city on the mainland of Norway, a little over 2,100km from the North Pole, is our gateway to the North Cape (just 34kms) away. Home to just 2,500 permanent inhabitants, Honningsvåg is primarily a fishing community, characterised by brightly painted wooden buildings, but the summer months draw cruise ships aplenty, and the local population grows by 500 to help cater for these. It is a designated World Heritage City and its area Bryggen (the Wharf) with its 61 "wooden buildings, houses museums, shops, restaurants and pubs is also listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. If you have time, don't miss the Fløibanen funicular ride up to Fløyen (320 m above sea level), which offers the best panorama, on a clear day. Invergordon is the gateway to Loch Ness and the area of the Highlands known as the "Great Glen". It is a major port of call for cruise liners bringing in excess of 70.000 passengers to the area. In 1933, an enterprising editor in Inverness enlivened a slow news week with the story of an odd sighting in Loch Ness. The legend grew overnight - and today individuals still scan the dark waters of the Loch for a sight of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. Legend goes back as far as the 6th century and insists that the celebrated Loch Ness Monster inhabits a cave beneath the picturesque ruins of Urquhart Castle. 

Lerwick is an anchorage port, the capital of the archipelago of the Shetland islands, the most northerly of the British Isles, over one hundred in number, of which a mere 16 are inhabited. The town is located on the eastern shore of Mainland, the largest Shetland Island and it was largely developed by Dutch herring fisherman in the 17th century. The islands are well- known for their superb crafts, ranging from woolen and cashmere knitwear to intricate lace shawls and fine jewelry.

Djúpivogur is a typical small fishing village on the east coast of Iceland.  Visitors have easy access to Vatnajokull, the biggest glacier in Europe, and to the magical scenery of the Vatnajokull lagoon.

Heimaey is the largest of 15-18 islands in the Westman Islands archipelago, 13.4 km2, located just off the south-west coast of Iceland's mainland. It is considered the "Pompeii of the North", after the Icelandic eruption in Heimaey in 1973, which buried around four hundreds of houses. An entire museum, Eldheimar has been built around the remains of one of the homes. It's totally worth seeing the museum and get closer to the history of Heimaey. Everything is within walking distance. While in town, you will see the extraordinary Stafkirkjan, a Norse timber church, a gift from the Norwegians to commemorate 1000 years since Christianity, the Aquarium and Natural History Museum (Sæheimar).There are hiking paths all over the island so any reasonably fit traveler should be able to enjoy the sightseeing on foot, choosing exciting natural trail tours.

The port of Ísafjörður is the largest of all harbours located in the Westfjords region of Iceland, located in the Skutulsfjörður. It is also the country's third busiest port of call for cruise ships which make a dramatic journey up the Ísafjarðardjúp Bay. This natural harbour is a perfect jumping-off place for hiking, biking and kayaking. Close to the cruise quays is the Maritime Museum, located in one of the oldest houses in Ísafjörður, which traces the life and history of the settlement with a fascinating array of fishing gear and variety of boats. You will also see the oldest group of houses in Iceland, merchant properties dating back to the 18th century.

Iceland's second-largest city offers a picturesque harbor as well as numerous artists' workshops and galleries. The town of Akureyri is the administrative, transportation and commercial centre of north Iceland, an important port and fishing centre. It lies at the head of the 60km long Eyjafjörður, the longest fjord in Iceland. You can visit the northernmost botanical garden and golf course in the world, interesting museums and shops, churches and the Botanical Gardens. Akureyri has a robust cultural scene, with several bars and reputable restaurants. Explore the lunar landscape near Lake Myvatn, marveling at its tumultuous volcanic crater lake, boiling mud pools and steaming earth. 

Vopnafjörður is a village and municipality in Northeast Iceland, standing on a peninsula in the middle of a mountainous bay by the same name. The main industries of Vopnafjörður are fish processing, agriculture and tourism and other services. Some of the main sights are Bustarfell, folk museum, Gljúfursárfoss, waterfall on Vopnafjörður's southern coast, Highland farms, the setting that inspired Nobel Prize-winning author Halldór Laxness' novel Independent People, Ljótsstaðir, childhood home of Gunnar Gunnarsson, Múlastofa, a museum about the lives and art of Vopnafjörður-born musicians and playwrights Jón Múli Árnason (is) and Jónas Árnason

Kirkwall is the biggest town and capital of the Orkney Islands, off the coast of northern mainland Scotland. At the heart of the town stands St. Magnus Cathedral, the finest medieval building in the north of Scotland, next to it the ruins of the former Bishop's Palace and Earl's Palace. The town has two museums, the larger being Tankerness House Museum, which contains items of local historical interest within one of Scotland's best-preserved sixteenth century town-houses and the Orkney Wireless Museum, dealing with the history of radio and recorded sound.
