Auckland is the largest metropolitan area in both Polynesia and New Zealand. It is situated on a narrow isthmus of land that joins the Northland peninsula to the rest of New Zealand’s North Island. Visit the Hawaiian capital and its signature beach, Waikiki. From here, you can explore the dormant volcano of Diamond Head, see Pearl Harbor U.S. naval base, the military target that ignited American entry into World War II and get to know one part of that history at the USS Arizona Memorial and another at the Punchbowl military cemetery.
