Our gateway to the Eternal City, Civitavecchia has served as Rome's seaport since the 13th century, boasting a long and venerable history. Its location near the modern city, made it a perfect vacation resort for emperor Trajan, who built a pleasure villa. while Bernini and Michelangelo designed the harbor fortifications. Yet the Eternal City, the ancient capital of the Western World and the center of Christianity for nearly 2.000 years, is our main reason to be here. Catania is Sicily's second largest city, on the Ionian Sea, under the shadow of Mount Etna, the biggest volcano in Europe. The city has a history dating back 2700 years, dominated by several different cultures (Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish, etc.), so, it is a wonderful combination of ancient and modern. Among its attractions, Piazza Duomo, the heart of Catania, with the city’s symbol monument the fountain with the Elephant, the Roman Amphitheatre, the City Hall, the Cathedral of Sant'Agata, Teatro Massimo Bellini, the Archbishop's Palace, the Palazzo Biscari and Castello Ursino (1239). From Catania you can choose shore excursions to idyllic Taormina and impressive Mount Etna.

Toulon is a city in southern France and a large military harbor on the Mediterranean coast. It is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region. The Old Town of Toulon is known for its fountains, each with a different character.

Today we are visiting Genoa, the capital of the Province of Genoa and of the region of Liguria, a powerful commercial center seaport and city-state. It was the birthplace of the great adventurer Christopher Columbus and its maritime roots have fostered a dialect that has absorbed elements of Neapolitan, Calabrese and Portuguese over the centuries. Genoa's harbor is a bustling swarm of activity, hosting a museum and an aquarium and has a magnificent medieval flair, ideal for a nice stroll. This port is our launching point for the sprawling metropolis of Milan.

La Spezia is a city of Liguria in northern Italy. Located at the top of the Gulf of La Spezia, it is an important commercial port and base of the Italian Navy. It is also the getway to Florence and Piza
