Among other highlights, are Newport's City Hall, Touro Synagogue, America's oldest existing synagogue, the Monument of th American naval commander Oliver Perry in Eisenhower Park and Rochambeau statue in Kings park - General Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau, who was a key commander of the French forces who assisted the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Newport has an enticing selection of public beaches, ideal for taking in the bracing Rhode Island sea breeze.
