Strasbourg is the capital and main city of the Rhineland and the Grand Est region in northeastern France and is located on the west bank of the Rhine. It is a city that retains its historic center and for this reason it is very picturesque. The city is built on the west bank of the Rhine and is crossed by the river Ill, one of the tributaries of the Rhine, which is navigable for the most part. The Old Slaughterhouses, on the banks of the Ill, house the Historical Museum. The Roan Palace houses the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. Almost opposite the Cathedral is the Museum ("Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame"), with works of religious art.
Speyer is a Rhineland-Palatinate city in Germany with about 50,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Rhine River, 25 km south of Ludwigshafen and Mannheim. It was founded by the Romans and is one of the oldest cities in Germany. The medieval city is surrounded by modern industrial and residential areas.
